🍕OLISI’S🍕is NY style pizza, which has its place🥈in the #sexyslicesworld. Some shops like Gino & Joes (aka Ferro’s) have climbed🧗‍♀️into the elite “A” club👩‍🎓. It’s a more delicate flower🌺than our #buffalony boi🏋️‍♂️but I prefer the hometown pies that incorporate a touch of the NY soul🎷into the dough🥖category, rounding out the sometimes one-dimensional📐#buffalopizza softness🍞. As a package📦though, the scales⚖️tip heavily in favor of the #buffalo pie. Will Olisi’s shatter the cheese🧀ceiling and hang with the elite? Are all NY-style #pizza shops in Buffalo Russian-run🇷🇺? Dough🥖:(B+/A-) This is good NY dough. Bland, which keeps it down✊but texturally it’s sound as the pound💷. Thumping crisp undercarriage, thin, and supportive.

Cheese🧀:(B-) They’re not wrong for doing it this way. It’s an adequate amount of cheese for NY pizza, but I just prefer more and what was there wasn’t anything really notable.

Sauce🥫:(A-) Textbook. Herby, savory, and not atrociously under-poured as is the case most often. Still needed more and didn’t deliver anything extra, but well worthy of the low “A’s”.

Pepperoni🍖:(C+/B-) NY pepperoni sucks more often than not in general, and I’ve never loved the exacting distribution. This pepperoni was weak and ultra thin, but they didn’t skimp so it’s landing on the bottom end of average.

Overall🍕:(B 84.75) Olisi’s is closer to the true NY style slice than some of the Frankensteined🧟‍♂️hybrids I’ve zapped into my top slots (G&J / Matayo’s), so if you’re hunting authenticity these might be your buds. But I’m not a purist so these aren’t going to necessitate another pass in the pizza-mobile (paging📟#billyfuccillo).
