So this is “Buffalo’s Best” pizza…which is a bold name. It’s like some strange strategy to bring in out-of-towners. “Say Darrel, I hear a lot about this ‘Buffalo Style’ pizza…who do you think we should order it from?” “Well, Emmett, says right here that this place is ‘Buffalo’s Best’, so let’s go with that.” Well fellas, let’s see if you made the right call. They’re pushin’ 2 slices and a fountain drink for $6. I’d make that deal. How about you? You make that deal? I don’t blame ya. Damn good deal.

These slices look pretty good. I’ve kind of wondered why places don’t sprinkle a little oregano or just a little something on their slices, particularly the ones that don’t exactly “pop” on their own. Anyhow, I dig the wavy crust and the pepperoni look unique. Let’s move in a little closer. Don’t be shy.

We’ll tackle the dough/crust first. Here we have another member of the “holey church” of dough poking. I think this is the 3rd of 4th place do have this kind of thing going on, and I don’t know why it’s done…but in the past it has been an indicator of poor dough.

This was no exception. Buffalo’s Best dough was gooey. It balled and gummed up and was for sure the “low-light” of the slice.

The cheese was ok. I tried here to show that it kind of congealed and formed “tectonic cheese plates”. This happens a lot when cheese that hasn’t been browned sits in a warmer and cools down a bit. Still very string-able and good. There won’t be a big hit for this, but it isn’t ideal.

Buffalo’s Best sauce was unique. This is a bit of a shot in the dark that I might get crucified for, but whatever. Maybe someone who works there or is familiar with pizza sauces can clue me in…but is it possible that there is cinnamon in the sauce? Somewhere in this pie, and I’m assuming it’s the sauce, there is a spice addition that I’m guessing is cinnamon, and it rang through every bite. Not sweetness in a cinnamon-sugar way, just cinnamon. Really weird for me and I didn’t dig it, but I could see that maybe being a unique thing some people like about Buffalo’s Best.

I was pumped for this pepperoni. They’re a bit different from anything I’ve seen and I was curious as to how they would taste. Well…they don’t really have a taste. They’re kind of fatty and chewy without any kick. That’s about it. Let’s run the calculations.

Dough🥖: (D+) Gooey and tacky.

Cheese🧀: (B+) Great flavor, but needed to be hit with more heat.

Sauce🥫: (B-) Weird cinnamon flavor that I didn’t love)

Pepperoni🍖: (C/C+) Nice coverage, but very little flavor)

Overall🍕: (C+)

Overall, Buffalo’s Best didn’t really do it for me. The pepperoni and the dough threw me off, and I wasn’t digging whatever spice I was tasting in the sauce. Have to give them credit for straying away from the norm with some unique elements in their pie, but in my opinion, the little differences didn’t play to their advantage. Go give them a shot for yourself. Maybe I’m crazy and there is no cinnamon at all. Maybe the cucumbers taste better pickled. Who knows. Thanks Buffalo’s Best!
