Chick-N-Pizza Works, which from here forward will be referred to as CNPW because typing that out is no fun, is on Abbott in South Buffalo. This a gangster image I ripped off google maps because there were too many lurkers around for me to snap a pic, and I don’t know these peoples agendas. Lot of weird-os out this way. Anyhow back to my pizza photographs that I took in my car alone on lunch behind the restaurant to later share on the internet.

I honestly forgot the deal, but It was right around that 2+pop=$6 area. Cool thing to note is that they have a crazy selection of lunch specials. Sub/taco/pizza/wing specials. Someone on the suggestion thread told me I had to get their “battered” wings, but they weren’t available to swap in for the Slice & Wing special. Somebody else throw those on reddit. I got shit to do, dawg.

These pepperoni were not great. The char was too much and they tasted burnt. Very crispy. Nice quantity, but it actually exacerbated the problem.

I think these slices sat for a minute. The cheese hardened into a crust and didn’t have a ton of flavor to compensate for the weird texture. Very nice color and bubble, but that doesn’t always translate.

I was actually shocked by this. Most pizza from this part of Buffalo is thick and doughy, but CNPW is almost NY thin. Spooky.

The bottom was kind of squishy/soggy. That was a little weird. Typically these styles have a crispy texture, which I like, but CNPW didn’t have that going on. Overall, the dough itself I actually liked. It was a nice in-between which turns me on. Chewy, but not fluffy/doughy. Not dried out/burned. If they crisped the bottom up they could have a hell of a base.

There is a sweetness or some strange spice in here that I am not about. I couldn’t place it, but the flavor was strong. Good quantity, but same issue as the pepperoni. The more the merrier didn’t work here. Let’s preach the gospel.

DoughšŸ„–: (B/B+)
.
.
CheesešŸ§€: (C/C+) Hurt in the rewarming process, but thats pretty normal.
.
.
SaucešŸ„«: (C/C+) Dried out. Needed about a teaspoon more/slice. Still flavorful.
.
.
PepperonišŸ–: (C) A touch more spice would bump these close to perfect.

OverallšŸ•: (C/C+)

I thought CNPW had a good dough that could use a small tweak. The sauce wasn’t for me, and the pepperoni/cheese were both either just dried out or a little overcooked. Somebody tell me bout dem wings. Thanks for the slices, CNPW. I will for sure be back, but maybe to try a different combo. Also, NOBODY in Buffalo (almost) does Fried Chicken and theirs looks bomb. I will be eating that.
