WK49: EMERGENCY PIZZA

Emergency Pizza is about 60yrds away from Artone’s on Seneca St and their game is that they will deliver you the elixir into the wee hours of the evening (10am-5am). Not that a man such as myself would ever dream of being out that late. Well, maybe for an early morning pre-meditation meal, but I have a sinking feeling they’re serving these late night pies to, and it crushes me to say this…drunks. Regardless of clientele, I respect their dedication to the cause and am pumped for the pizza. 2+Pop=$6.45ish. Light’em up! P.S this isn’t my photo. I don’t know that viking, although I would like to.
Here are the girls. First impressions are that they’re looking solid, but nothing out of the ordinary. I can see the cheese cracking a little bit, so I’m worried it might be a little old, but other than that it’s all fine.
The pepperoni are standard, but nicely done. Right in the 8-10 per slice range and a good char around the edge on most. A little dry, but apart from that, no complaints.
The dough was a slip. You can see in the cross-section that it was underdone and it became a gelled goo ball (stay off the drugs) pretty quickly after chewing.
The bottom was a little light as well and would have been better off with a few more minutes in the oven.
Here is the redeeming quality about this dough. This crust is on the same level as Bieber’s new album. Shit is fire. But seriously, the crust has the same taste and texture on the outside as a CHEESE-IT and I don’t know what kind of sacrifices or pagan rituals are going on behind closed doors to achieve it…but it’s delicious.
The cheese…was rough. I don’t know what happened or if the slices were really undercooked, but it had almost nothing going for it. I mean, it was cheese, so in its essence it was edible and fine, but the texture and the pull and a lot of the flavor was all lost, due to the fact that it never got warm enough to actually melt together. Kind of a gross shot, but that’s what was going down.
Emergency’s sauce is by far their most notable attribute. It’s very good. Savory, thick, hearty, and nicely layered. Not an incredible depth of flavor, but still really pleasant.
Dough🥖: (C+) Amazing crust is really propping this soft dough up.

.
Cheese🧀: (D/D+) I mean, it was on there, but needed more melting time. Made for a weird texture.
.
.
Sauce🥫: (B+/A-) Thick savory highlight of the slice.
.
.
Pepperoni🍖: (B/B+) Standard pepperoni, but nice quantity and well done.

Overall🍕: (C+)
Emergency Pizza was alright for me. I don’t think the pizza got cooked through on the first run, and the reheat didn’t really do anything to help it out. Great sauce, and a good crust, but the rest got lost in the wash. With Artone’s across the street, as far as I can tell, the delivery game is whats keeping Emergency going. Gotta give them credit for that hustle. My thanks to Emergency. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Buffalo. Three to go!
