Mister Pizza is another Buffalo icon that I’ve gotten a few messages and comments about, requesting a review. I got suggestions to head in not only because people liked the place, but some guessed I would like it due to mapping my preferences based on past reviews, which to be honest…was kind of touching. BUT ENOUGH OF THAT SOFT SHIT. I’m here to pass eternal judgment. I haven’t had Mister Pizza in a very long while so I don’t really remember it, but they were slangin pies out the door like a trap house. 2/$5. The review.

There are some slices where you open the box and you just know it’s going to kick ass or suck. This is one of those times. Ass was sure to be kicked. NOTHING to complain about on first sight. Looks warm. Cheese is in mass quantity and still gooey. Deep red glistening pepperoni of different shapes and sizes, and sauce peaking out here and there. Maybe I’ve been doing this too long, but there is a lot of pretty color to notice in pizza. You can put a distinct flavor to some of these hues almost immediately.

The cheese is bomb. I happen to like a little salty punch to cheese, and it’s present here. I had to chew it well, like the inside of a really fresh mozzarella stick. Not “rubbery” though. Clearly lots of it here too. Little brown spots here and there. This is top quality. Grade A, uncut Colomb…what were we talking about?

If you look at the front and the back (and over the whole slice for that matter) you can see there are slices of different thickness and shape, somewhat. A few were charred, while others untouched. These were delicious, but the thinner ones maybe a little too thin.

This is the sauce I’ve been looking for. I’ve had some really nice ones thus far, but none quite like this. It is a BOLD sauce. Heavy spicing and a lot of tang. Admittedly, I’ve always preferred to be hit hard with flavor than to have to search for the subtleties in some food items. This was acidic, very garlicky, pungent, and incredibly delicious. This sauce rang clear throughout every bite of the slice and was ladled on well. I just wanted to add this extra shot so you could see how visibly spiced it was. LOOK AT IT.

Texture and flavor variance in every bite. The browner bits were crusty and flakey. You could feel them crumble in the bite. On the other hand, the lighter parts were chewy and super soft. Another top of the category for me. But what put it over the top was the fucking dough bubble! Halleluejah! My other slice had one too. I actually got a glimpse of a worker opening an oven, and the whole pie he was cooking had a bunch. He popped the big ones and left some of the small ones. Good on ya, bud. There is such a great texture and flavor profile to these. Charred at the top and flakey throughout the rest. I really believe these are damn near a necessity to perfect dough. Awesome. Let’s hit the scoreboard, yes?

Overall🍕: (A/A+) To those who demanded I head to Mister Pizza…thank you. These were amazing slices. Everything was done right. If I had to sum it up, bold would be the best way to describe it. If you like pizza, this is one you’ve got to try, or retry, as was my case. Thanks, Mister Pizza!
