Leo’s has a few locations, but I was rolling through South Buffalo and hit the one on South Park for lunch. From what I could see online, this one is more of a satellite location. Nowhere near as built up as the others, and no bar. The pizza was $2 a slice and Wednesday means $0.25 wings. I repeat…$0.25 wings! I didn’t know anybody did that any more. I made an immediate change to my plan and threw down just under $6 for 10 wings and a slice. Shazam. I almost felt guilty. Does anyone know anywhere else with a wing deal that cheap? Absolutely slayed my afternoon, though. I digress. Let’s get at that slice.

It looks…cold. I went at noon, so it’s a little bit of a bummer not to get a fresh slice. You can tell by looking at the left side of the slice that the cutter rolled right through that cheese and cut an edge you could measure with a level. It still looks tasty, though.

As expected, the cheese has congealed a bit. There is a lot on here, and if it were fresher it would have probably been awesome, but it was just ok. A lot of it ripped off when I bit in. The epitome of a slice coming out of a warmer. Still good cheese, but the temp hurt it a lot.

Leo’s pepperoni is pretty spicy, which is great for me. I eat a lot of heat, and it was nice to have some kick. Other than that, nothing really to note. Very standard stuff.

Leo’s dough is good, but yet again, nothing special here. I don’t know if these are poke-holes or just little bubble voids, but the dough was much better than the others I’ve reviewed that have been forked to death.

Leo’s most notable point is their sauce. It is almost as sweet as Zip’s. For sure #2 so far in sweetness. The flavorful and visible herbage (jah-mercy) really saved the slice from being completely forgettable. That’s not necessarily bad, by the way. There are ones I distinctly remember for how underwhelming they were. That’s going to wrap it up. Survey says…

Dough🥖: (B) Nothing notable
.
.
Cheese🧀: (C+/B-) Would have been much much better warm.
.
.
Sauce🥫: (B+) Sweet and herby. Best part of the slice.

.
Pepperoni🍖: (B/B+) Notable spiciness.

Overall🍕: (B-/B) Leo’s is kind of a boring slice. Reminds me of something you would get at a sporting event. I wan’t upset with it. Still eating pizza. It just could have been so much better though. The temperature was a big killer on this one, so I’m sure a fresh pie would be great. I suppose I could have asked them to warm it up a bit, but I’ve gotta take them as they come. Still, their dough could have had better texture and flavor, and I prefer a more savory sauce. The deals here are outrageous though. I will absolutely be back for Wild-as-Hell Wing Wednesdays (not the Leo’s official title). They were delicious. Also, one of the more friendly staffs I’ve had the pleasure of being served by. Thanks, Leo’s!
