Slices this week are coming from La Pizza Club. Much to my shock and surprise, YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO BE A MEMBER! I had a fake I.D all mocked up with a back story and everything. “My grandfather, God rest his soul, practically founded this club. He and…Jim, or John, you know he had a hoarse voice from all the pizza, well anyhow they were the originals! Before all the clubs moved to Chippewa!”. Didn’t even need that shit. Also a brethren of the Hertel pizza mafia (not to be confused with the very real, La Nova pizza mafia), the deal was 2/$5, straight up. Free Parking! Lets get crack’a’lackin.
ice! These look great. Very white cheese (not Wiseguy’s white), kind of stands out. Not really sure how that happens, but not a good or bad thing yet. Nice sprinkle of pepperoni and a visible sauce line creeping out the top. Good sign for coverage.
La Pizza Club is thinner than your typical buffalo slices, but nowhere near NY style. As I’ve stated before, I am a “middle of the road” man myself. Business casual.
Phones have made some leaps and bounds. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but toot toot, bud. This is a nice shot. Whiter than Panera during a lunch rush, but the flavor is really nice. Good bubble and brown…but for sure suffered slightly in the warmer box. Most everyone is better off with the oven reheat method, which takes a little more time/effort. Carbone’s somehow found a loophole to that rule.
The industry standard and what I consider to be very slightly above average distribution. I gotta be honest…with the cup-and-char I really have no idea if these are all coming from the same supplier. Sometimes they taste slightly different due to cooking and quantity, but for the most part its all pretty consistent. Anybody got an answer on that?
The sauce was acidic. I actually get a little heartburn after most these places, but I could sense of something going on a minute or two after I ate it. I like that it had intense flavor, but this was a little vinegary. Ideal quantity, but It’ll take a slight hit for that sting.
Should have gotten a better shot. Bottom was buttery and flakey. Top was silky, but dense and not bready. Overall, I liked La Pizza Club. They could up their reheat game, and the sauce is a little tart, but they were still great. Once again, and this has been one of the greatest parts of the experience, incredibly nice guy behind the counter. Chatted with me a bit and yucked it up. Pizza culture is a genuine thing, my babies. Roll tape!
Dough🥖: (B+) Nothing spectacular, but well executed.
.
.
Cheese🧀: (B+) Even a little cooled, great flavor and texture. Potentially a high-scorer on a whole fresh pie.
.
.
Sauce🥫: (B-) Acidic, but some pronounced flavor)
.
.
Pepperoni🍖: (B/B+) Standard flavor in nice distribution.

Overall🍕: (B/B+)
La Pizza Club served up some solid slices. Out of the Hertel Pizzerias I’ve tried this far, The Club, and Bob & John’s have been the best. I really wish everyone would switch to warming their slice orders in the oven. Those little rotator boxes almost always do an insufficient job…but I understand the convenience. For sure one I would be interested to try as a whole pie. Thanks, La Pizza Club.
